  42. Erm... it does ?  It might do if you try to install it seperately not 
  43. using acornets configure or installer - but that's the risk you take 
  44. when trying to upgrade individual components manually.

  56. If this is a crucial datafile and the format is changing from one 
  57. minor release to another without the app automatically taking account 
  58. of it then I have to criticise the author.  But I doubt this is the 
  59. case because you were going from 0.59d to 0.59c.  I wouldn't expect 
  60. backwards compatibility.

  62. I will try out 0.59d and see what effects it has on those who might 
  63. be trying to upgrade from a 0.19 well used setup.

  65. To be perfectly honest though - upgrading from one major release of 
  66. acornet to another is always going to be a risky thing there 
  67. are too many factors involved.  You can't simply just dump a new 
  68. version over the top of the old and rerun the configure without risk 
  69. of loosing a lot.  The configure was never intended to be used like 
  70. that.

  72. Thats why acornet should only be released when quite a lot has 
  73. changed so that new users (who've never used it before) can benefit 
  74. and those who haven't been updating odd apps here and there can start 
  75. again with a new setup.

  100. What error ?  Doesn't do it for me.  The !newsbase dir is as it was 
  101. when extracted from a downloaded copy.  By the way - have you 
  102. actually ever written anything that wasn't a rewrite of someone elses 
  103. code ?
